Its structural and functional layout is coordinated around production processes, machinery loads, equipment locations, access requirements and material movement, while prefabricated steel framing supports efficient fabrication and on-site erection.

These buildings are commonly used as manufacturing workshops, steel fabrication facilities, machining plants, assembly workshops, maintenance facilities and other light- to medium-duty industrial buildings. Depending on the production process, equipment layout, required clear height and building span, the structure may use a clear-span configuration to provide flexible, unobstructed interior space or a multi-span arrangement to support larger production areas and structurally efficient layouts.
